Responding to the needs
of the Church and the world

Our Mission

We, the Sisters of the Order of Saint Benedict in St. Joseph, Minn., are a monastic community of women who seek God in our daily lives according to the Gospel and the Rule of Benedict. Through our ministry of prayer, work and community living, we listen and respond to the needs of the Church and the world.

Prayer Requests

As a Benedictine monastic community, a significant part of our mission is prayer. Is there someone or something you would like us to pray for? You’re invited to share your special intentions with us. You will be remembered during our daily prayer of Liturgy of the Hours, and your request will be shared on a community bulletin board seen by the sisters every day.

It is our privilege to pray for you. God bless you!

Message From the Prioress

Summer is here and the liturgical season is Ordinary Time. What are you going to do to make this summer extraordinary? Here’s a suggestion. Think of someone who influenced your life for the better. Rssolve to pay that forward and make a positive difference in someone else’s life.

Prioress Karen Rose, OSB

Daily Meditation for May 29, 2026

As summer approaches, amateur and seasoned gardeners are usually quite excited about their gardens. They are busy selecting a variety of garden seeds and have been planning with hopeful enthusiasm and expectation. They anticipate having a bumper crop of fruits and vegetables. They are already imagining which ones they will want to share with their neighbors and friends, and which ones they will be taking to the local Farmer’s Market. For those of us who are not avid gardeners, but are interested in planting something, may want to pause and ask ourselves what other kind of seeds can we plant? Perhaps we are busy planting and cultivating seeds of peace, generosity, compassion and joy; or seeds of envy, rash judgment or discord? What kinds of seed will I plant today in my mind and heart? What sort of harvest will I reap in the months ahead in my garden?
